Windows 7 gets beta SP1, final version expected by H1 of 2011


Microsoft has announced the beta release of SP1 for its latest operating system, Windows 7. The service pack was announced at Worldwide Partner Conference. The company has rolled the beta for service pack in just 9 months of the release of the latest operating system, which is only touted to be the combination of updates on Windows Live updates service with some fixes. The SP1 is only combination of few updates and fixes but is not expected to bring some exciting features to PCs and laptops. However, with the arrival of SP1 for Windows 7, the software king has pulled back the sale and support for Windows XP SP2. It is red alert for those who have not upgraded to Windows XP SP3 and a must to do call also. The final version for SP1 is expected to arrive by first half of next year. Meanwhile, the company has also extended second life to XP; now users can downgrade to XP or Vista from Windows 7 till the entire life cycle of new operating system, i.e. 2020.
